What cool feature would you like to see implemented ?

July 2nd, 2007 by webmaster

First, Thank you all for using this service, I’m very happy to see so much people using it ;-)

I know that many of you would like to see more features on spambox.us, so why not leaving a comment and tell me what would be the killing feature this service must have ?

Thanks !

It would be cool if you could extend the amount of time to keep your addy for, as I got one for a week and now wish I’d made it a big longer… thanks!

2. Lee Says:

First of all, excellent service! I use it all the time. I agree with Alex, as sometimes I need to extend the time to keep an address. Other than that, simplicity is king and too much complication will make it less useful. Keep up the great work (and service).

3. Ben Says:

Allow for someone to cancel the forwarding of a spambox account if they begin receiving a bunch of spam there.

4. Kasi-Blog » Blog Archive » Spambox Says:

[...] The email forwarder stays alive for any period from an hour to a year. See the blog for upcoming improvements. I would suggest to allow signing-in to administrate all your email forwards in one [...]

5. Ali Says:

I agree with ben there. I would also like a cencelation option. even if i have to sign up for it. If that happen, i mean i think i might have to cencel it, i have to use http://www.mailexpire.com, but otherwise i prefer spambox.us as it takes less time to setup.

hey maybe you can take a leaf out of mailexpire and allow cencalation using a link, i would appriciate the feature very much.

6. webmaster Says:

Thank you all for your comments,

I’ll head on the two easy-to-implement features: spambox cancellation and time extension.

I’ll try to keep the service as simple as possible. Some kind of “portal” is already planned but will take some time to implement.

Don’t stop posting your ideas! ;-)

7. eric Says:

An API!

8. abx Says:

Great service! I agree with the implementations required. It would be nice to receive a mail when a spambox is created with two links to the following operations:

1) spambox time extension
2) spambox cancelation

I think that spambox should always be simple and clean: no accounts and portals!

9. Tom Says:

The spambox works excellent, it’s easy and simple to use.
Keep up the good work!

10. Ali Says:

Nicly said abx.

I also think that it should be kept ongoing without accounts or portals.
anyway thanx spambox, for your service

:) cheers!

11. John Says:

and so this arises a question, “what is a portal?”

12. Piro Says:

Hi, first great service! i used it ALOT i like the simple stuff and i agree with most of the comments up there extend and cancel will be great… but i can make accounts for an option for the ppl whould like register and manage his mail, like u make one spambox, = GM6A4WIFDZ15bt1s@spambox.us and u can enable or disable it, any time , and of course deleted it and option to get more that one spambox on your account and manage it: making, enabling , disabling and deleting it, and of course the same as now non register use ;D sorry about my english! it really sux and i know if someone wanna fix this its ok ;D ok thx keep with the great job!

13. James Says:

I would like to agree with everyone else, there are two main features that would make this service great, whilst still keeping it simple.

1. The opportunity to cancel the account early (this I think is more important than being able to extend the time – because you can just set it for a slightly longer time and cancel it when you need to)
– This could easily be done by sending a link to the e-mail adress given, that when visited simply cancels the email addy :)

2. Able to extend the time for the e-mail address. This would probably be much more complicated and for the reason I put above, I’d like to see the oppertunity to cancel more!!

14. hasser Says:

how about on registration you provide a link to a webpage that, if you visit it will cancel your spambox account.

that would keep it simple I think.

15. Jesus Says:

Good service ! ….only should be the possibility of creating a personal Custom Address, (more small) !

Example:

My real address is (example): brandon@yahoo.com

I want to be: james12@spambox.us

and not: t4hj25f18U3fYo7wIp&f9e0n3r23kn@spambox.us

Why not ? …This will be better for us !

Thank you.

16. webmaster Says:

Hey everyone,

As the last post says, some features got implemented, more importantly: cancel and time extension.

Now, the following features are in study:
– A portal in addition to the quick spambox generation to manage your addresses
– Custom @spambox addresses
– An API

I’m waiting to hear more comments and requests from you!

Thanks a lot for using spambox ;-)

17. ALi Says:

Hey yeh, when (IF) you ,make the feature for making accounts, can you keep that clean too, i mean, no adress and phone numbers ands stuff, I that if you could make it like Mediafire

and just take the email add, confirmination and pwd, i think that way, it will be simple. and clean

18. Andi Says:

Hi!

The service provided here is amazing, I nearly use it on a daily basis! But lately I get a “Sorry, this address can not be used” quiet often. Seems as more popular spambox becomes as more ban the email extension on their websites… If you could ad some “noname” domains, it’d probably fix that!

Thanks ! ! !

19. Peter Koeleman Says:

I think it’s odd that sites would ban the @spambox.us mail domain. It’s very easy to create a new unused and free e-mail address somewhere if you really need a disposable e-mail address. Making an e-mail alias for your ISPs address is not always a service that ISPs offer.

Banning spambox.us is no guarantee that people will use an address that will prevent the expiration of the ability for the website to message the user. Free e-mail services also tend to expire after a few months of inactivity. Those who are concerned about spam or privacy won’t give away their address and they are right to do so.

Blocking spambox.us makes a statement, one that tells the users that their e-mail address is more valuable to the website than just for communication should the user desire it. Beware.

20. Vijay Says:

there was another website I used across some yrs back which was also for creating email addresses specificly for non-personal use..
it was mytrashmail-dot-com. U only have to specify a username @mytrashmail.com and nothing else(not even any personal id to forward to). Also there were no advanced features like cancellation, extend as that email id remains forever.

So, I came today across this website and thought why would I want to give my personal id to this website to forward my email to it? Even this website can give my mail id to spammers.
So, the other site I mentioned suits me better as they do not need ur personal mail address and with the only downside being that the mail id is permanent and if others know ur username, they can read ur mails anytime as this site does not require password for ur @trashmail address.
So, u need to think on these lines to get me into using ur service as im nt willing to give u my personal mail address. :D
CIAO…

21. csin Says:

I agree with Jesus (July 16,2007). The address I got was ‘bhCOOORncXS2Xyni@spambox.us’, which is awful
(way longer than even the code# to access my bank
account!). On the plus side, I like that the forward is
good for a whole year.

22. asaens Says:

pop3 access … I have a prog that checks every nn minutes for new mail.

23. asaens Says:

nevermind … it was late and I didn’t know how it works

24. thomas Says:

does the mail get forwarded or do you have a box to retrieve your email from?

25. JAMES Says:

Coice to set the random generation on generation of temp email

26. Jake Says:

hey,
if you can’t do custom addresses, i think a cool feature would be a toolbar icon which copies your email address when you click it. then, you can just paste in the email address when needed. kinda like that feature that photobucket has.

27. play slots slot Says:

download play slot play or slot

28. ucretsiz green card Says:

it looks like a nice site, but it would better with multi language support, for example spanish.. but thanks..

29. green card nedir Says:

wissen Sie alle mögliche Informationen über dieses in anderen Sprachen

30. lsi Says:

it would be better with other languages support, but thanks..

31. Jill Ramonsky Says:

I would like to be able to implement an identical service on my own domain (in case some websites should ever become spambox-aware and disallow your domain).

Any chance the source code could be published, or maybe just sent my way?

32. Suggestion Says:

Is this still working?

Provide the possibility to simply use any address (i.e. [xyz012]@spambox.us) upon
sending an email and a page that displays any return message for a set time period,
possibly a day, or whatever is practical. This was the technique used by several
disposable email websites in past and it worked quite well for email where no privacy
is either expected or required.

33. Jane Goody Says:

Not that I’m totally impressed, but this is more than I expected when I found a link on SU telling that the info here is quite decent. Thanks.

34. Peter O Says:

Desired features:
1) An alias that actually works! Mine did not, despite my copy/pasting into a test message.
2) An alternative to the complex random number/letter combinations. How anyone can manage to quickly access such aliases, when needed, (which is not regularly for most folks), I do not know. Where do you conveniently save this stuff?
The idea above, of a toolbar icon from which this alias is automatically accessed, would be great, but I recognise the programing task is not insignificant.
